Okay… so I thought about starting out this post with some kind of Anchor Man joke…. seeings how my post title reminds me of the infomous quote “I love lamp”….ohhh but I thought I might try to keep myself on track
But I just couldn’t.
hehe!
Sooo yes, it is true, I love lamps. Andddd lets face it, I just love lighting in general. I have been shopping NONSTOP for great lighting options for my new home. And I find myself having troubles committing. I don’t know if it is because lighting fixtures are harder to change out regullarly and so I have to choose something that I will like for a longer time than a lamp perhaps? But anyways… regardless I am a lighting fool!
So when I was offered the opportunity to do a makeover with lighting I was SUPER excited! I mean YES YES YES that sounds SO up my ally! AND I learned a lot about the actual BULBS that I put in my super cute lamps and soon to be cute lighting fixtures as well.
I started out by heading over to the Walmart in town on my lunch break! Check out all of the detail of my shopping trip over at my Google + page!
Because why wouldn’t I want to save some money using efficient bulbs… that just means that I can buy some more lamps right?!?
Okay…. here is my WARNING before you see these BEFORE photos—- My husband and I are working HARD HARD HARD on our new house… we have only been in the house for less than 3 weeks now and we have been doing some serious demo and reno on the first floor…. and so we have made our upstairs “someday” master bedroom into a kind of loft for right now. It is seriously the ONLY room in the house that resembles any kind of order…. and I think the disorder is really starting to get to me!
YIKES! I mean YOU KNOW I don’t like those light fixtures AT all…. but I am TRYING to ignore them until I figure out where we are adding a wall to our room to create a master bath… AND until I find the perfect fixtures…. SOOOO until then…. I shall enjoy my pretty lamps that have been sitting unused until this point.
I started out by changing the cheap-o bulbs that I have had in my lamps since I brought them home from the store. With my new GE Energy Efficient {Energy Smart} Light Bulbs.
And then I decorated. For the first time in my new house. And I loved it.
A little decor and my lighting quick fix made all of the difference I mean seriously!!!!
Much much much more relaxing and inviting right?!
Not perfect by any means…. BUT BETTER! I mean come on… it can only be so good when you have painted plywood as your flooring… right?! But at this point I am just happy that there isn’t wallpaper to peel!
I now realize that I need that “space” that feels like home while working on these renovations! I have a feeling I will be using my studio bedroom as a living space MUCH MORE from here on out when I need a break from all of the house projects!
And, in case you were worried that I was just kidding about the demolition and renovations going on downstairs— check this out!
Unfortunatly finding the perfect ceiling fixtures are going to have to wait a bit…
because I need a floor down here first!

And on a great sidenote, I am going to be saving $32.85 annually by just switching the bulbs in this one room in these 5 lamps!!! According to this great site that is a savings of $180.00 over the life of the 5 bulbs! Crazy! Check out how to calculate what you could save by switching your light bulbs as well {Click HERE}!
Not a bad price for such a great savings right?!

PS WHERE do you Recommend shopping for light fixtures?????
Help me find the perfect fixture so that I can ditch the cheap-o white fan and the crazy gold-&-glass-3-light disaster!!!

It’s looking good honey, I takes time. Have that one area a haven. Don’t think about the other stuff. You can’t or you’ll go crazy. I’ve been there. Hugs!!
I love what you’ve done with the area – it looks nice and bright and I can’t wait to see what the downstairs will turn out to look like!!! The light shopping looks like it was heaps of fun:)
I am still working on switching out my bulbs! It looks great!
Those lights are so great, we have them through out our home! I am a sucker for lamps as well!
That’s hilarious! (The beginning, I mean, the end is just lovely!)
Loving the no-floors picture! Progress…

I’m also a very big lighting fan. Love lamps, candles, and unique lighting fixtures in the home. I would put light everywhere possible, but still have it dark in the home. Love the idea of accent lighting.
I love lighting as well! My problem is that I have been picking up a lamp here or there that I just had to have and now I have ended up with a hodgepodge of syles. I like for them to all be different from each other but mine are from one spectrum to another which doesn’t work from a design standpoint.
I searched for a long time for unique ceiling fans. I found three that I love on Amazon. We put them up and they are awesome! We moved into a house that is about 50 years old and still had all the original fixtures which were not nice antiques, they were just old and ugly. We replaced every light fixture in the house.
i wish i had more lamps in my home! I hate using the ceiling lights… I’m weird like that… And I love dark dark dark curtains that don’t let the sun come through much, so I really need to invest in some lamps. I have a few salt rock lamps and a regular lamp, but they just don’t light the room much.
