Progress with my laundry room challenge.

Hello lovelies.

How was your weekend?

I am happy to say that I had a bit of fun AND I did a lot of work around my house!  Things are coming together!!!!

By the end of this week if all goes well I will finally be moving into my new place!!!!!!!!

EEEEKKK!!!!!!!!  I am SO excited!

But until then, in addition to the work on my living space I took some time to make a little progress in my laundry room….

To say that my progress is pretty unimpressive… well, that might be an understatement…

but hey….

I am working on this one with my blog friends and I promised I would share my progress… so here it is…

the second installment of Blogging without Borders

{Check out part one here}

Alright here is the CRAZY (no, not really) step one….

yep….I had to fight my husband and take back the laundry room…

the tools are now happily living in their proper place in the basement and garage!

yep, and since there is SO much renovating at my house right now, cleaning did not just involve a dust buster…. nooooo I called in the shop vac!

{Is it weird that I feel like it would be a treat to use my Dyson again?!}

:)

And, with everything semi clean again, I got to work saving the walls.

You may wonder why my walls need saving and such work, well, here is its, there were layers of wall paper that were half heartedly taken down by the previous owners and then instead of doing anything to help the awful texture of the wall, they just slapped some crazy yellow paint up and called it good…..

hummmm…

I just can’t live with that…!

So I cleaned, sanded and then used a joint compound with a trowel and mudded the walls to even them out.

I have learned by doing the guest bedroom that mudding is an art and that it requires a lot of time and patience…

BUT it can save your walls, so it is worth it!

And so I will wait!  I am hoping the next time you see my laundry room (in two weeks) you will no longer feel like vomiting when you see the crazy colors in the space!!!!  :)

Here is to hoping!!!

So as far as I can tell, I am on schedule to having a brand new-ish laundry room in 8 weeks!!!

  4. Great progress, I just wish I’d get my tools out of the laundry room! Can’t wait for the next episode!

  5. Yay for progress!!

  6. Taking back the space from tools – that would be a major accomplishment at my house! Once my husband and boys start drifting into a space, I can’t scoot ‘em back out. Prep steps are looking good!

  7. It’s going to look awesome! I can’t wait to hear & see more about it!

  8. God save the walls!

    ~Bliss~

  9. Yes, save the walls!! You go girl — that is some serious work!

  10. It’s a dream we all strive for – a room to make our guests not want to vomit!!
Keep up the good fight on those walls – and hopefully your hubs isn’t too upset that his tools were relegated to the basement!

  11. Lookin’ good! Can’t wait!

  12. I’m reminded of a song my kids sing in music class:

    Slowly, slowly, very slowly
    creeps the garden snail
    slurp…
    slowly, slowly, very slowly,
    up the garden rail
    slurp…

The slurp is obviously the sound the snail makes:)

    You’re getting there!
