An Up-cycled Rocking Chair

It has been awhile since I have done a good old furniture up-cycle.  And to be honest I have missed it.  I have had this old rocking chair sitting in my garage since the move and even before that… just waiting for some attention… and I finally had some time to play with it!  Yayy!

my rocker is looking all comfortable and inviting… just the perfect place to go and cuddle up with my pumpkin spice coffee and read a book while enjoying my wood burning stove that I am now in love with even though it is horribly not cute or fitting in with my decor…

and here is how my rocker looked prior to the attention and loving!  I think I fell in love with it because of the numbers 510 on the frame… I wish you could still see that part!

my rocker is not perfect… but I love it.

All I did was sand up the chair to remove dirt, old stains and wood stain.  Then I cleaned the chair down and applied about 3 coats of stain and poly (I used an all in one).  Kylie my pup helped by having me throw the ball for her about a million times in between each step!

For the cushion portion of the chair I had my husband help me cut down boards to fit the back and seat and then wrapped fabric around the padding I purchased and then stapled the fabric into place.

and now I love it.

What do you think?

I am linking up to a few of my favorite link parties this week—be sure to check them out for some wonderful inspirations!
