Well, this is the post that starts out with….  It’s ABOUT TIME!

Yes, it is true, I have dawdled and procrastinated enough, it is FINALLY time that I share my fall “mantle” with you!

And although I don’t actually have a mantle this year…I did the best I could with a table that I shall from here on out {until further notice *aka–construction*} call my mantle!

This years mantle was simple and VERY inexpensive.

Yep I didn’t spend a single dollar on it, I just used what I had around the house.  AND for you with keen eyes, who noticed the pumpkin that would have costed me about $1.25 at the stand down my road, well, even that was free {a gift}…. so literally a VERY inexpensive fall decor going on this year!!

but I think that the best part is that I STOLE one of my husbands old flannel shirts to make the majority of the DIY decor that you see!

I am famous for stealing his shirts and using them for crafting…  I think it started with a pillow, then progressed to a

and now I have gone as far as decorating with fall for free with his clothing… call me a crazy crafting lady, because it may just be officially true!

And I suppose that is A-okay with me!

But perhaps we could shorten it to C.C.L.?  Just so it is a little more simple to say?

:)

Don’t you just love how fall literally makes decor so simple because you can just use what you find outdoor to decorate your indoors?!

and I have to say that even-though it was convenient to use the flannel shirt it was actually my goal and plan to decorate with flannel this fall.  It just reminds me of everything that has to do with cuddling up with my husband under a blanket next to our ugly wood burning stove and drinking warm apple cider.

And for a final time I MUST mention how convenient it is to have a father-in-law and husband that loves to hunt… because I have REALLY benefited with feathers and horns and great fall decor!  So women who have husbands that hunt… well you may be the lucky ones after all!!!

Happy Fall sweet friends.

I am linking up to a few of my favorite link parties–check them out here!

  1. I just recently discovered your blog through a blog hop and am following it in Google Reader with The Newsify App on my iPhone however, when I open the link your entire blog is limited to the narrow left margin of the page and there is this wide area to the right of basically nothing. It is difficult to read as the area is so narrow. I have also opened in both my Safari and Dolphin browsers and get the same results. I’m not sure if this is something happening on my end or yours but thought I’d share just in case.

  2. I alsi forgot to mention that there is no “home” location when I access your blog. I can see a link for -previous entries but no way for me to go back to the beginning of your blog even if I click on the title, nothing happens.

  3. Love it!! Nothing better than using what you’ve got for decoration! And now we know why your Hubs shows up shirtless on your blog, you stole all of his shirts!! Thanks for the birthday wishes!!

  4. Lovely! And you are not crazy to use your husbands shirts for decor – that’s called Amazing Thrifty Lady who uses what she has on hand!
and yes, I agree that fall is so easy to do for free – just head out the door and see what you find!

  5. hope he didn’t like that shirt! ;p It looks lovely used for all your little touches!

  6. Ahhh I love that it’s your husbands shirt! If I ever make it for a visit…. You might just want to hide that mirror from me… just sayin ; )

  7. Hi Jaime, great use of the old flannel! I don’t have a mantel either, but a black desk that I have in my entryway could work well like this…and alleviate my mantel envy. I must also share that my grandpa homesteaded in northern WI generations ago and I have very vague memories of him, but I do remember looking up at his red and black buffalo plaid flannel shirt! I would have only been two something…but grandpa, I do remember you :-)

  8. I love it! Great idea to use a flannel shirt. Nothing says fall/winter more than flannel and plaid. So cute.
